Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!  We hope the Easter bunny found you all.  He certainly managed to find Hamish and Kayla however the Easter egg hunt had to be rescheduled due to the rain in the morning.  We did try and blow it north for you Mum and Dad.

Chocolate = yum.

Umm Mum, the bunny didn't give me any chocolate.

Today we started our day at the Back of Bourke centre. It is awesome and we learnt quite a bit there. It is really a place that if you are like Dad, you could easily spend half or even a full day at. However if you are like us and have a toddler in tow, you can run through it in 1 ½ hours. The history is amazing and the people that have visited or come from here is truly eye opening. Even the great Fred Hollows is buried out here.

Wondering around the grounds

Jason and Hamish in front of the paddle boat.  It wasn't running as the river was too high.

Walking across the old bridge.

If you do ever come out this way you have to stay at Kidman’s Camp.  It is a few kilometres out of town but it is a beautiful caravan park.  For those of you not camping of towing a van, they have the most beautiful looking cabins.  Every few nights they have a bush poet come out and for $25 an adult you get dinner and poetry around a camp fire.  The gentleman that ran it was amazing with his guitar and one of those moments where you are so grateful that we are getting to do this trip.  Dinner was fantastic and the lemon tarts for dessert were so delicious.  Definitely a must do on a trip out to Bourke.

Cheers Dad.

Perfect way to end a day.

My two precious little ones.

We found the township itself quite sad really.  With all the high fences around public buildings, the cage for the bottleO, the number of boarded up windows and the security doors/grills on all the businesses just made the place feel quite unsafe.  We even tried to find a park for Hamish to play in but were not successful at all.  However we never once felt threatened or anything, but we were grateful our campground was 7 or so kilometres out of town.

Delayed Easter egg hunt.

Two happy little kids
