After a slow start this morning due to the US Golf Open (or
something like that) we finally managed to get packed up and on the road. The drive from Mildura to Robinvale was quite
uneventful with not a lot to see other than scrub. I then took over the driving just outside of Robinvale,
mainly as there was no way I was going to try and drive out of town just
yet. We passed all different types of
orchards and it was a bit of a guessing game as to what they were exactly. We even past a willow tree farm which was a
project for the Australian cricket bats.
Sorry Wade we didn’t cut one down to bring home for you.
One cheeky kid enjoying the road trip.
The second cheeky monkey. Waiting to play soccer.
We went straight to the caravan park in Swan Hill to set up
camp. Jason wanted to have a waterfront
powered site so had booked us in the night before. Our site is certainly waterfront, but the
brochures gave you the impression that there was like a half metre drop to the
water, not a couple of metres. So of
course I am not overly impressed about a steep slope down to the water. Luckily though Hamish isn’t really interested
in trying to get down to the water and when he does he at least knows to sit on
him bum and slide down in the steep sections.
This is the first place where we have actually noticed a decent flow on
the river.
All set up for a few days.
Friendly local.
It was then off to McDonalds for lunch as we needed to get a
new juice bottle. We use this to hold
our milk in our car fridge so when we stop for breaks Jason and I can have a
cuppa. Our old one missed out getting
washed up one night and it stunk so much I wasn’t willing to keep it. We need to also replace one of our fancy wine
glasses. You would think for $1 you
would get some sort of quality but no, one of the glasses cracked after it was
knocked over and then when Hamish picked it up to look it just broke in half!

Hamish having a dip in the pool.
We also need to find a bike store as one of the training
wheels on Hamish’s bike has broken off so obviously if he leans on that side he
just falls off. Hopefully we can find
another set of training wheels to put on the bike as he was really starting to
ride it without us pushing so we want to encourage that some more.
There doesn’t seem to be a lot to do in Swan Hill other than
a pioneer settlement, so we are a little worried that the three days we have
paid for might be too much and we will be bored. I thought we would save the pioneer
settlement until we got to Ballarat; however I think we might end up doing this
one also. The evening was spent with
Jason attempting to fish again and an early night for all of us.
Hamish feeding the goose.
Kayla sussing out the new site.
