Finally success!

We had one spare day on this trip and we were so unsure where to use it, so have decided there is no better spot then here.  It is so lovely and we are so grateful we made the decision to come this way rather than go to Bendigo/Ballarat.  Kayla woke up early this morning, but I suppose 6 isn’t too bad, and not long after all the birds were also awake and making just as much commotion.  Our Queenslander neighbours are awesome and so great to chat with them and here all about their travels.

I think we amused them quite a bit as our van was not exactly even.  Jason has a level on his phone but I think it really doesn’t work and we might need to get him a proper one.  We had noticed ourselves but just hadn’t really been bothered to correct it.  Needless to say we did fix it up after that.  They also had a generator that they use to charge their van battery and have kindly allowed us to plug into it also to charge so we don’t have to run our car for a while in order to charge our battery.

Today was just a lazy day and we hung out at the camp all day.  Of course this meant Jason had to go and try fishing again.  I am starting to think I was only bought along on this holiday to be the nanny whilst he goes off fishing.  Maybe in the next town I will have to go off browsing or at least to the local coffee shot and set up with coffee, cake and a magazine (which I will actually get to read).  One can dream can’t they?  Anyway after about an hour of so I checked my phone and there was a message from Jason.  I just assumed he was asking me if he was right to stay longer (the polite way to say are the kids behaving) but no there was a picture, and more importantly he was holding a FISH!  So naturally I didn’t want to get my hopes up and ask the two most important questions.  Was it edible (not a carp) and was it his?  So I nearly fell over when he responded with yes to both.
Jason and his catch.

Actually I think he was really lucky that one of our neighbours had joined him and pointed out a good spot.  Not only did the spot prove to be successful but Jason had someone who could vouch that he had indeed caught the fish.  I need to be more supportive as I wife I think!  So he came home to prepare the fish and our fantastic neighbours invited us over for happy hour.  We had to quickly duck into town as it wouldn’t exactly be happy hour in our camp if we were fighting over the one remaining beer we had!  I also took the opportunity to get rid of our rubbish, buy Hamish some more marshmallows and fuel up.  It is always easier to fuel up the day before you leave as then you don’t have to try and do it with the van attached.
In case you missed it - Jason caught a fish!!!!

It was a great way to spend a Tuesday afternoon (and no guilt what so ever about the fact it was only Tuesday).  Talking to them about the vans they have owned and sold, their setup, travels and anything and everything.  Though I think when they asked Jason’s age they were a little shocked (well one couple anyway) as he was still younger than their youngest child!  I don’t think we have ever come across a setup like theirs and Vince I think you would be like a kid in a candy shop with all their gadgets.
Chatting with the neighbours.  Unfortunately Kayla was
not to sociable and cried everytime they held her.

Beautiful evening.

Love taking photos on this trip.

We then sort of parted ways, well as much as you can when your van is only 10 metres away.  They kindly let us use their fire to cook our dinner on which was fantastic.  As at that stage we hadn’t even gotten around to lighting ours so would have been waiting a while to get coals and then cook dinner.  The fresh fish was delicious and certainly worth the wait.  We savoured every little bit of it as that might just be the last one as we are leaving the Murray River in about 4 days and making the trip home (how fast has this gone).
Dinner cooking.

Love cooking on a campfire.
